Apr. 22: Millions of Americans participate in demonstrations marking the first Earth Day.

May 4: Four students are killed at Kent State University during an Anti-Vietnam War protest.

July 24, 1970

  The 42nd annual reunion of the H. F. Schindler family was held on Sunday, July 24, 1970, at the Clair United Methodist Fellowship Hall.

  Following a basket dinner the president, Meredith Kapp called the business meeting to order and welcomed all members, guests, and ministers.

  Dee Louis Sander sang the traditional reunion hymn, "Saved by Grace", with Rev. Lester Sander accompanying.

  The minutes were read and approved. The treasurer reported $6.90 in the treasury. 57 members answered the roll call which now numbers 187 members.

  Recognition was given to the new members of the past year. They are as follows:

Jan. 25: Charles Manson and three of his cult followers found guilty of first-degree murder in 1969.

June 20: 26th Amendment, lowering voting age to 18, is ratified.

  The 43rd annual reunion of the H. F. Schindler family was held on Sunday, July 25, 1971, at the Clair United Methodist Fellowship Hall.

  Following a basket dinner the president, Roger Ford, called the business meeting to order and welcomed all members, guests, and ministers.

  Dee Lois and Debbie Sander sang the traditional hymn "Saved by Grace", accompanying was Rev. Lester Sander.

  A memorial for Paula Schneider was given by Kenneth Schindler.

  Two men were recognized for being in the service. They were, A. J. Dewey and Chuck McDonnell.

  Also recognized were four new members:

  The minutes were read and approved. The roll call was answered by 63 people with 190 on the roll. The treasurer reported there was $6.01 in the treasure.

June 17: 3 men arrested for breaking into offices of the Democratic National Committee in the Watergate office complex in Washington, DC.

  The 44th annual reunion of the H. F. Schindler family was held on Sunday, July 23, 1972 at the Clair United Methodist Fellowship Hall.

  Following a basket dinner the vice-president, David Schindler, called the business meeting to order and welcomed all members and guests.

  Sharon Blower led the group in singing the traditional hymn, "Saved By Grace."

  Kenneth Schindler presented a memorial for Charles Schindler, Debra Wood, and Emma Schindler.

  A. J. Dewey was recognized for being in the service. Also recognized were eight new members:

Jan. 22: In Roe v. Wade, Supreme Court rules 7-2 that states may not ban abortions during first 3 months of pregnancy and may regulate, but may not ban, abortions during the 2nd trimester.

Jan. 27: Four-party Vietnam peace pacts are signed in Paris. End of U.S. military draft announced.

Oct. 10: Vice Pres. Spiro T. Agnew resigns. Gerald R. Ford becomes first appointed vice president two days later.

  The 45th annual reunion of the H. F. Schindler family was held on Sunday, July 22, 1973 at the Clair United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

  Following a basket dinner, the President, Daivd Schindler called the business meeting to order and welcomed all members and guests.

  All joined in singing the traditional hymn, "Saved by Grace".

  The minutes were read and approved, after which 67 of the 202 members answered roll call. In the Treasurer's absence, the Vice-President, Mrs. Marva Murawski reported a balance of $27.77 in the treasury.

  A. J. Dewey was recognized for his service to our country. Also recognized were 7 new members:

  Kenneth Schindler gave a memorial for Mr. Harry Hill who passed away May 11, 1973.

  Under new business, there was discussion on changing the meeting place for the reunion to a park area. By a vote of the membership, it was decided to continue meeting at the church Fellowship Hall.

  Everett Schindler, Chairman of the nominating committee, presented the following slate of officers for the coming year;

May 9: Impeachment hearings open against Pres. Nixon.

July 24: In televised hearings, House Judiciary Committee recommend 3 articles of impeachment against Pres. Nixon.

Aug. 8: Pres. Nixon announces his resignation and resigns a day later.

July 28, 1974

  The 46th annual reunion of the H. F. Schindler family was held on Sunday, July 28, 1974 at the Clair United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

  Following a basket dinner, the President, Marva Murawski called the business meeting to order and welcomed all members and guests. All joined in singing the traditional hymn, "Saved by Grace." Rev. S. A. Schmiechen lead the group in prayer.

  The minutes were read by Karen Pagli in the absence of the secretary, Bruce Schindler. The minutes were approved as read. There were 71 members who answered the roll call. In the absence of the treasurer, Rodney Sander, Sharon Dyer reported a balance of $28.03 in the treasury.

  A. J. Dewey and Edward Allen Schneider were recognized for their service to our country. Also recognized were eight new members:

  Kenneth Schindler gave a memorial for Mr. Leslie Schneider who passed away May 7, 1974.

  A motion was made and carried that $10.00 would be donated to the Clair Church for the use of their Fellowship Hall.

  Lee Schneider brought to our attention that the birthplace of a child should be used and not the address.

  A motion was made and seconded that ice cream would continue to be served. Motion carried.

  The 47th annual reunion of the H. F. Schindler family was held Sunday, August 3, 1975 at the Clair United Methodist Church fellowship hall.

  Following dinner vice-president Bruce Schindler called the meeting to order, welcoming family members and guests. The Lee Schneider family sang the hymn "Saved by Grace".

  The minutes of the previous meeting were read by secretary Rodney Sander and apporved as read. The treasurer Stan Kapp reported a balance of $12 in the treasury.

  The motion was made and seconded that a donation of $10 be made to the Clair Church each year. The motion passed.

  The motion was made and seconded that the family give in memory of Henry F. and Catherine Eiman Schindler the cross and flame to be erected upon the Clair Church. The motion passed unanimously, Jack Schindler was appointed as receiver of funds for this project.

  The 48th annual reunion of the H. F Schindler family was held Sunday, July 25, 1976 at the Clair United Methodist Church.

  Following dinner, President Bruce Schindler called the meeting to order by welcoming family and guests. Cliff Schindler sang the traditional hymn "Saved by Grace". The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Secretary Stan Kapp and treasurer Debbie Brunett reported a current balance of $11.03.

  The following additions were made to the family:

  The 4th annual reunion of the H.F. Schindler family was held Sunday, July 24, 1977 at the Clair United Methodist Church.

  Following the pot luck dinner, President Rodney Sander called the meeting to order. Stan Kapp sang the traditional song, "Saved By Grace." The minutes of the previous meeting of the family were read by secretary Debbie Burnett and treasurer Glen Schindler reported a current balance of $33.20. A total of 60 of the 225 members answered the roll call.

  The following additions were made to the family:

  A motion was made by Lester Sander to invite the William Schindler descendents to the H.F.Schindler reunion to be held next year.

  The 50th Annual reunionof the H. F. Schindler family was held, July 23, 1978 at the Clair United Methodist Church.

  Following the pot luck dinner, President Stan Kapp called the meeting to order. He gave special welcome to the William Schindler Family, Aunt Josephine Schneider, and Aunt Jessie Schindler. He also recognized Mildred Ford and Katherine Cornelius for their attendance at all 50 Reunions. Debbie Burnett sang the traditional song, "Saved By Grace". Glen Schindler read the minutes of the previous meeting, and called the roll, with 83 members responding. Treasurer Lee T. Schneider, III reported a balance of $48.00.

  Russell Schindler introduced members of the William Schindler family who were special guests of our family.

  Rev. Lester Sander gave a memorial for Everett Schindler whi died Feb. 14, 1978 and Nathan James Kapp who died on April 27, 1978. The day was saddened by the news that Aunt Lorena Schindler had passed away during the meeting.

  Lee Schneider talked about his band's trip to Portland, Oregon, and Kevin Schneider's trip to the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.

  The 51st annual reunion of the H. F. Schindler family was held July 22, 1979 at the Clair United Methodist Church.

  Following the pot luck dinner, President Debbie Burnett called the meeting to order, and gave special recognition to Aunt Josephine Schneider. "Saved By Grace" was sung by the Lee Schneider family. Secretary Toby Schneider read the minutes from the previous year, and called the roll, with 76 members responding.

  Debbie Burnett announced the following additions to the family:

  The Rev. Lester Sander gave a memorial for Lorena Schindler, who died July 23, 1978; Jessie Schindler, who died September 5, 1978; Bennie Colrnelius, who died March 4, 1979; and Rosemary Schneider, who died May 1, 1979.

  Treasurer Hilton Sander reported that the treasury was not sufficient to pay outstanding bills, and asked for donations.

  Berneice Kapp read articles telling of Mr. & Mrs. H. F. Schindler's 50th wedding anniversary and H. F's 74th birthday, which the group enjoyed greatly.

  Recognition for good attendance was given to Josephine Schneider, Berneice Kapp, and Vera Schindler families.

  The following slate of officers was approved for the coming year:
