After the noon potluck meal, President Natalie Gillaspie called the meeting to order.

Special recognition was given to Lusetta Schneider as the oldest member present, and Michael Modlin as the youngest member present. Marilyn, Larry and David Grauberger received recognition for having traveled the farthest to attend the reunion.

Grandma Schindler's favorite hymn, "Saved by Grace" was sung by the first cousins, with a little assistance from their spouses and other family members. The singers were accompanied by Marilyn Grauberger. Following, the minutes of the 1999 reunion were read by Bob Cornelius. Next, David Schindler read the minutes from the 1950 meeting, also sharing noteworthy events that occurred that same year. Bob Cornelius read the roll call, with 63 members present. A memorial tribute for Clifton Schindler was given by Kenneth Schindler.

Terri Modlin gave the treasurer's report, reporting a balance of $70 after donating $40 to Clair Church for the use of the fellowship hall. No additional contributions were requested since the balance would sufficiently cover the next year's donation.

The H.F. Schindler website was re-introduced. Family members were encouraged to give feedback on the site. Also discussed was the idea that we should make the 75th Schindler reunion a much bigger event and to focus on boosting attendance at the reunion. Members were encouraged to contact Wayne Schindler with suggestions.

After the noon potluck meal, President David Schindler called the meeting to order.

Special recognition was given to Lusetta Schneider as the oldest member present, and Carson Lutz as the youngest member present. Karen and Joseph Paglia, of New Jersey, received recognition for having traveled the farthest to attend the reunion. Also welcomed were the following guests: John Middleton and Sue Rinne of Hope Church, Grant Williams Herbers who attended with the Kurt Ammon family, and Vicky Schneider, Stephanie Taylor and Kyla Taylor.

Grandma Schindler's favorite hymn "Saved by Grace" was sung by all in attendance, who were accompanied by Marilyn Grauberger. Following, the minutes of the 2000 reunion were read by Terri Modlin, and the minutes from the 1951 meeting were read by Bob Cornelius. Terri Modlin read the roll call, with 78 members present out of a total of 378 members. The Frank Schindler descendants had the most family members in attendance with 23 in attendance and the Clarence Schindler and Josephine Schneider families had the highest percent of family members in attendance. The following additions and changes to our family membership were recognized:

Wayne Schindler presented a list of suggestions for the HFSchindler website during the call for Old Business. Any other suggestions should be shared with Wayne and/or Karl Schindler.

During the call for New Business items, Terri Modlin provided some H.F. Schindler family facts and the correct answers to the "name the 1st generation" game were reviewed.

• Thirty-one cousins make up the second generation of the HF Schindler family.
• These cousins were born over a 45-year period.
• There are now 9 living first cousins and 7 of these cousins were in attendance at the 2001 reunion.
• Additionally, 15 spouses of these first cousins are living.
• Dwight Schindler is the youngest first cousin and Ken Schindler is the oldest living first cousin.

Wayne Schindler then addressed the family members to discuss plans for the 75th Schindler reunion, scheduled for the summer of 2003. For the past several reunions Wayne has suggested that we focus on making this reunion a much bigger event with larger attendance and more activities. Representatives from each of the 9 families were selected to participate in a planning committee. These representatives will be asked to help select the date and the activities for the reunion as well as communicate this information to their respective family members.

After the noon potluck meal, President Bob Cornelius called the meeting to order.

Special recognition was given to Marjorie Sander as the oldest member present, and Brett Wilson as the youngest member present. Alison and Will Arbuckle of Canton, Georgia received recognition for having traveled the farthest to attend the reunion.

Grandma Schindler's favorite hymn "Saved by Grace" was sung by Lee and Nina Schneider, Karl and Anne Schindler and Jean Silk, who were accompanied by Marilyn Grauberger. Following the hymn, the minutes of the 2001 reunion were read by Diane Hibbs, and the minutes from the 1952 meeting were read by Terri Modlin. Diane Hibbs read the roll call, with 57 members present out of a total of 390 members. The roll call took a total of 17 minutes to read. The Clarence Schindler descendants had the most family members in attendance with 18.

The following additions and changes to our family membership were recognized.

Hilton Sander gave the treasurer's report, reporting a balance of $72. , after donating $40 to the Clair Church for the use of the fellowship hall. Additional contributions were requested, noting that additional funds might be needed to cover expenses related to preparations for the 75th reunion.

Wayne Schindler presented other names to be added to the committee for the 75th reunion. They were as follows: Bruce and Carolyn Schindler and Susan Schindler.

Wayne Schindler then spoke about the 2003 75th anniversary of the Schindler reunion. It was suggested that the reunion be a weekend long celebration with activities for young and old. It was also suggested that the actual reunion be on Saturday so those needing to leave earlier on Sunday could go.

After the report, Wayne Schindler made a motion to move the 75th Schindler reunion to the July 4, 2003 weekend. Bill Schindler seconded the motion. July 4th weekend was approved unanimously by 57 members present.

The following additions and changes to the family were recognized:

Larry Grauberger presented a memorial tribute for Larry Schindler. He shared memories of his brother-in-law. Nina Schneider shared information about the ill health of Doris Sander and Lucile Schneider.

The oldest member was Kenneth Schindler and the youngest member was Luke Evan Francis Mills. There were 63 members in attendance, with the furthest having traveled from Texas and Colorado. All the first cousins and their spouse were recognized, as there were many in attendance.

The roll call was read by Brandi Lutz. Marilyn Grauberger played Saved By Grace on the piano with Rodney Sander leading us in song. Amanda Mills read the treasure notes and they were approved.

Wayne Schindler had a discussion to make sure that all family members include their email addresses to keep apprised of the illnesses, new additions and other information to be shared by each branch of the family. The email addresses are not public and will remain within the family.

Dwight Schindler made a motion to discuss next year's reunion. A motion was made to show by way of hands to leave it on Saturday or change it back to Sunday. The vote showed for it to remain on Saturday. The time will remain for visiting from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the meal at 6:00 p.m.

The Nominating Committee Report made a motion and was accepted to elect new officers, as follows:

The 79th annual reunion of the H. F. Schindler Family was held on Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Clair United Methodist Church. The afternoon was spent visiting followed by a delicious potluck dinner served at 5:30 pm.

President Jean Schindler Silk called the meeting to order. Grandma Schindler's favorite song, "Saved by Grace," was sung by Bob Cornelius, Dwight Schindler, Hilton Sander, and Wayne Schindler. Marva Murawski played the piano.

Jean extended a warm welcome to all who were present. Special recognition went to:

3. Kenneth Schindler, eldest present (88); Leroy Schindler, runner-up (86)

Secretary Marilyn Grauberger presented the 2006 Minutes. Wayne Schindler moved that they be accepted. Bill Schindler seconded the motion. Approved. Minutes from 50 years ago (1957) were unavailable. They may be read next year along with the 1958 Minutes. Marilyn proudly read the 427 names listed on the H. F. Schindler Family Roll. Fifty-nine descendants were present. There were no visitors present this year.

Treasurer Marva Murawski reported a balance of $178. Discussion followed concerning an amount to give Clair Church for building use. Hilton Sander stated that the church does not charge for its members. There is not a scheduled amount for outside groups. Dwight Schindler suggested a $75 donation. Those present affirmed that amount leaving a balance of $103 in the Treasury. A basket will be available for donations.

Memorials for our deceased members were given as follows:
Lusetta (Wigger) Schneider – given by Nina Schneider, who attended Lusetta's 100th Birthday in February 2007. Lusetta had chronicled every family event of her family. Betty (Schneider) Weinert – given by Bill Schindler, her uncle. Betty was a dedicated Christian lady and a gifted pianist. Doris (Schneider) Sander – given by Hilton Sander, her nephew. "Aunt Doris" was always teaching about her faith. She loved her family.

NEW BUSINESS

1. Hilton announced that Clair UMC will be holding its "100th Anniversary Celebration" on Sunday, November 9th, 2008, which coincides with "Harvest Home. " He asked for a show of hands of those interested in having a Schindler Choir; it will be discussed again.
2. Norma Schneider of Clair is asking for photos for Clair’s Centennial Celebration. Bruce and Carolyn Schindler will scan the photos.
3. Mt. Nebo Cemetery Update – Great-Grandfather and Great-Grandmother Schindler are buried there. Following the 2003 Reunion a volunteer "descendants' work party" cleaned the site, from mending fences and trimming grass to setting fallen tombstones. Ryan Flurry cleared the site several years ago for his Eagle Scout Project.
4. A short discussion was held concerning several aspects of food for the Reunion.
1. Catering Food – difficult to know number of people attending; lots of work for person coordinating the catering.
2. Kitchen Crew – same people have to clean up; local people do not mind bringing food; people stay away if they cannot bring a dish.
3. No conclusions reached; tabled.

The 80th H.F. Schindler Family Reunion was held on Saturday, July 26,2008, at Clair United Methodist Church. The afternoon was spent visiting followed by a delicious potluck dinner served at 5:30 pm. The blessing was given by the Rev. John Middleton.

Vice-President Marilyn Grauberger called the meeting to order. She thanked those present for their attendance and especially the members responsible for the church set-up and dinner preparation. Grandma Schindler's favorite song, "Saved by Grace," was sung by Hilton and Rodney Sander and Wayne and Dwight Schindler with the family members joining in the refrain. Schindler Family Roll. Forty-four members were present.

Treasurer Karla Wilson reported a balance of $239.00. Wayne Schindler moved that a donation to Clair be made in the amount of $75.00. Meredith Kapp seconded the motion. A basket will be available for donations.

Memorials for our deceased members were given as follows:
Daryl Schneider – given by Kenneth Schindler. Daryl was a "good man," talented, kind hearted and a dedicated church member. Evelyn Schindler – given by Wayne Schindler. Evelyn's smiling, radiant face will be missed in the kitchen during family reunions.

Old Business
Rodney Sander reminded the family of the Clair Church's 100th anniversary on November 9, 2008. The H. F. Schindler Family was an important part of the church's history. He encouraged participation in the choir and also in sending pictures that help to depict the
church's history.

Marilyn thanked Lee and Nina Schneider for their continued work in keeping the family records up-to-date. They ask that members remember to forward to them any family changes.

Wayne Schindler passed out instructions on the family e-mail procedures and encouraged members to sign a list with their e-mail addresses. It is an excellent tool to keep the family informed of events, concerns, etc.

The 81st Annual H.F. Schindler Family Reunion was held on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Clair United Methodist Church. Visiting for the afternoon began at 3:00 p.m. followed by a delicious potluck dinner served at 5:30 p.m. The blessing was given by Lon Schindler.

President Marilyn Schindler Grauberger called the meeting to order. She thanked everyone for their presence and being a part of this very special family gathering. She thanked Hilton Sander for opening the church and assisting with questions and also for setting up the tables and chairs for the afternoon. Hilton and Marjorie Sander also prepared the kitchen for the arrival of the delicious potluck dishes brought by all family members. Marilyn gave a BIG thank you to everyone for bringing their wonderful food! Also thanked were Nina Schneider and Terri Schneider Modlin for preparing the name tags, and Clair's church secretary, Vickie McDonald for making the special H.F. Schindler Family placemats which were on each table.

After introduction of the 2009 Officers, Grandma Schindler's favorite song, "Saved by Grace," was sung by Dwight Schindler, Patricia Schindler, Nina Schneider, Tammy Miller, Bob Cornelius, Stan Kapp, Larry Grauberger, and Terri Schneider Modlin with the family members joining in the refrain. Marilyn Grauberger played the piano.

Kenneth Schindler turned 90, and he and Luella celebrated their 68th Anniversary

Lucile Schneider celebrated her 97th Birthday

Secretary Karla Schindler Wilson read the Minutes of 2008, prepared by Marva Kapp Murawski. Kenneth Schindler moved that the Minutes be accepted, Dwight Schindler seconded the motion. Approved. Stan Kapp read the Minutes of 50 years ago (1959), which were written by his mother, Bernice Schindler Kapp. Roll Call for each Schindler Family Branch was read by designated members for each family lineage. Readers included Karla Schindler Wilson, Linda Schneider Worthen, Roger Ford, Gilbert Sander, David Schindler, Terri Schneider Modlin, Dwight Schindler, and Meredith Kapp. There were 433 members listed on the Roll. 55 Members were present.

The "Original" first cousins present included, Kenneth Schindler, Lee Schneider, Bill Schindler, Marilyn Schindler Grauberger, Wayne Schindler, and Dwight Schindler. Leroy Schindler was not present.

Treasurer Linda Schneider Worthen reported a balance of $265.00. Dwight Schindler moved that a donation to Clair be made in the amount of $100.00. Dale Schneider seconded the motion. Hilton Sander will be in charge of presenting the donation to Clair. A basket will be available for donations.

Old Business:
Marilyn Grauberger reminisced about Alex Schindler during the time he lived across the road from her family on the old home place.

Kenneth Schindler shared a newspaper article about Grandpa Schindler entitled "80 Years On One Farm," and he commented on Grandpa Schindler's barn, which Grandpa was so proud of. Afterward, Kenneth read Grandpa H.F. Schindler's obituary. Kenneth also mentioned that he has lived on the farm where he was born for 90 years.

New Business:
Marilyn recognized Lee and Nina Schneider for their ongoing faithfulness over the years in keeping the records in the Family Book, documenting the changes, and preparing them to be distributed. She also recognized Karl Schindler for keeping up the website and adding the Minutes to the website each year. They were given a round of applause.

Nina reminded everyone to pick up handouts and thanked all for sharing Family information. She requested any new information be turned in by July 1st, preferably.

Joys and Concerns: Lucille Schneider's son has lung cancer, please remember him in prayer. Doris Schneider was ill at the time of our reunion, also remember her in prayer.

Next Meeting
The 82nd annual H.F. Schindler Family Reunion will be held at Clair UMC on Saturday, July 24, 2010. Everyone may begin to gather at 3:00 p.m. for visiting with the potluck dinner to follow at 5:30 p.m.

The 81st H.F. Schindler Family Reunion meeting was adjourned. Marilyn expressed appreciation for the turn-out of members today. The Friendship Circle was formed with all family holding hands and singing "Blest Be the Tie That Binds."
